Kemah boardwalk.

Today is the first day we have had 'nothing to do' as in, we have the car, we are waiting on the RV.

We got an email last night saying there was a bunch of work that was needed to be done before we could pick the RV up, a big downer.  But this morning, in reply to my questioning email I got an OMG email from the sales guy, he'd sent us an email about another RV! ours is fine short of a rattling AC unit which they are investigating.  Either which way the RV isn't going to be ready on Saturday (boo) so another weekend in the hotel is what we will be having.

I got to have a play with the AR drone today too, out on a little patch of grass next to the hotel, it was fun and I'm looking forwad to playing some more.

This afternoon we went to the beach, well not quite.  We went to the coast, a little place called Kehma, imagine Bognor but at 90 deg! and American big.  We had lunch in a place that had a HUGE aquarium in the middle of it, it was cool and the food was good too.

On the drive we drove through a 'shower' it was quite a downpour.

OK, enough from me, here's her

Toad hunt part 2

Well the day started off well, a short list of cars to go look at, and not much else to do.  We headed for what was the favourite of Ali first, not because it was her favourite but because it was the closest.  When we got there we were so happy we took a test drive and bought it!  That though is only half he story.  Trying to take just over $6K from your own account should not be so difficult, because I only have a debit card, the withdraw limit is $5k, even with the bank on the phone they won't auth it! the nearest branch is over 45 minutes away so an hour and a half round trip, and that assuming that I'd be able to sort it there.  After an hour of fighting with the system we tried a wire transfer, but being the first one I'd done, I missed the 'confirmation code' so we would then have to wait for a call back from the bank to confirm I'm me!  The salesman eventually took pity on us and let us leave without the confirmation code!  We did have the call back later and called the salesman with the code so all is good.

Once we had the car we headed straight to PPL to work out the gear required to hook it to the RV, as it was they didn't have some of the bits in stock so they have been ordered and paid for.

We have also had a mail from the salesman over at PPL with a short list of things that need looking at on the RV, hopefully he'll come back to us in the morning again with a breakdown of what is needed to be done and how much it's going to cost.  The trouble is because of this it looks like we are going to have to stay in a hotel for another few days, I think it would be easier to stay here rather then move but that's something to be looked into tomorrow when we know more.

Well here's Ali

Toad hunt part 1.

Omg... how hard can it be to find a frigin toad.....(a toad, by the way, is a vehicle to tow behind your RV). Well it's proving pretty hard at the moment...mostly because we don't know where anything is...we have spent the whole day traveling all over Houston trying to find cars, and since the laws about advertising over here are shite you have to take every description with a pitch of salt...a huge pinch...some of the cars we saw where great, but some where shite.. One didn't have any door handles? Hello?
So the search for a "Toad" continues.
Watch this space folks...

Ali.

P.s. on the up side we had KFC for lunch with mashed potatoes, gravy and biscuits...get in. Nom nom...

Rainbows End.

Today we traveled to the Escapees head office in Livingston to register our postal address. It's 216 Rainbows End... How lovely is that. It was about 80 miles away but didn't take long on the freeway. We also visited a Walmart... It was immense... And we bought some bananas... Yey. Tomorrow we are off to find a "Toad" that's a vehicle to tow behind your RV..

PPL.

Well we spent the day walking round a huge RV lot called PPL. They are one of the largest RV Consignmant dealers in the US and have a brill reputation. They give you a list and map of all their trailers and just let you walk around for as long as you want to check everything out. We spent 6 hour walking around and around in the blistering heat looking at RV's. It was ace.

Day one in du big brudder hoose...

And so it begins, its the morning of our first full day here in the USA. Its raining outside but still in the mid 20s so it's going to be a hot one.

Buffet for breakfast is pretty extensive. Fruits, breads, pastries and continental style meats and cheeses. The cooked breaks is lovely. Eggs, flat sausage, bacon, fried potatoes etc. We didn't try the grits or the biscuits and gravy, bit too unsure about that bit.. Lol.

Then off to The Galleria. The 4th largest mall in the USA, and it was pretty damn big I tells ya. Tomorrow is the big day, off to PPL to look at the RV's....OMG...
